\nWith a Real Deadline<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I have long had a heart for helping other writer\u2019s with their projects, whether for publication or personal growth.\u00a0 After 40+ years of being a professional writer, I know this: The deadline is my Muse!<\/em><\/p>\n

P.S. We also have a literary cat, Rocky, who attends each meeting (maybe you can take a pill if you have bad allergies).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

WHAT IS OFFERED: My group offers practical and creative input, from conception to process to creation to distribution\/marketing (if that is what’s desired). \u00a0We have fiction and non-fiction, adult, teen and children\u2019s fare – all genres. (Although I retain the right to be discerning about that!)<\/p>\n

FORMAT: Most often, people read aloud from pages that they’re working on. We go around for constructive comments, first “what works and why” then “what doesn’t work and why.”<\/p>\n

Writers often start out giving comments like your mom: \u201cI thought it was just great!\u201d But before too long, they are able to give more helpful constructive comments as their “listening” ear develops. Then, BONUS, this new skill begins to add more sophisticated layers to their own<\/em> work.<\/p>\n

Sometimes though what someone needs is to brainstorm with the group. We\u2019ve helped people pick from too many<\/em> projects, decide when<\/em> they\u2019re going to be able to write, and even where<\/em> to carve out a workspace.\u00a0 We also help with marketing, query letters, distribution \u2013 pretty much anything.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ABOUT THE GROUP: There\u2019s a cheerful camaraderie and discernable energy of support among the participants, no matter how varied their projects. It really is a support group!\u00a0 Sizewise, it\u2019s generally 2 to 5 people, since people come and go and there\u2019s no commitment beyond one meeting at a time. \u00a0If it starts hitting 6 or more people, I’ll start offering it weekly.<\/p>\n

WHERE & WHEN: We meet in my home in Paso Robles (near Walmart) from 6:30pm – 9ish every other Monday (they shift a bit as to\u00a0which\u00a0<\/em>Mondays).\u00a0 After you contact me, I\u2019ll give you the address.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

INVESTMENT: Meetings are $25 each or one can purchase a card of 4 meetings for $80. \u00a0Cancellation Policy: 24-hour notice on cancellations after RSVP is received is required or you\u00a0will be charged for the meeting.\u00a0 (So sorry, but too\u00a0many last minute cancellations made this necessary.)<\/p>\n

HOW IT WORKS: Thursday or Friday before the Monday meeting, I send out a “Seeking RSVP’s” email to see how many want to attend, and then I confirm whether the meeting is on or not.\u00a0 At least two must attend or I get the evening free, because that\u2019s not a group!<\/p>\n
